Forging a Link Between Biofilms and Disease

Article Abstract:

Biofilms, a collection of bacteria, may be responsible for a variety of human diseases. Biofilms attack body tissue, including the teeth and gums, the lungs, the ears, and the urogenital tract. They are also responsible for attacking tubing and implants. The research linking biofilms to human diseases is outlined.

Biofilms invade microbiology

Article Abstract:

Microbiology researchers are paying increasing attention to the activities of biofilms, which are clumps of bacteria surrounded in slime. Biofilms play a role in corrosion and in disease. They have the ability to resist destruction by conventional antibiotics and the immune system.
