From day-to-day coping to strategic management: developing technological capability among small-scale enterprises in Zimbabwe

Article Abstract:

The operations of two worker cooperatives in Zimbabwe were studied to determine their technological capability and their need for intervention to help them strategically manage their technological function. The first is the Cheziya Bakery while the second is the Garabwe Tailoring Cooperative. The results suggest that small-sized enterprises which optimally manages their day-to-day technological functions have the potential to strategically manage them as long as favorable economic conditions exist.

Global strategic alliances among firms

Article Abstract:

Technology advancements and foreign subsidies of some industries are expanding the horizons of global economy. However, individual firms cannot successfully meet the requirements of international trade with their limited resources. Strategic alliances are vital to globalization as they provide access to different firms' resources which are needed to satisfy demands of the international market.

Japan's shift in management technology: from quality control to strategic information systems

Article Abstract:

Japan has begun a shift from quality control management to strategic information systems, a change necessitated by the changing business environment of the 1990s. As markets have become fragmented and individualized, the greater flexibility of using information technology was required in order to make more informed decisions.
