Gene ties arthropods together

Article Abstract:

Univ of Wisconsin researchers found genetic evidence that crustaceans and insects are more closely related than commonly thought. Expression of the same gene, called Distal-less (Dll), regulates development of both branched limbs, found only in crustaceans, and unbranched limbs in insects.
