Article Abstract:

The Endurance Limit of Actual Bearings depending on Operating conditions, Materials and Manufacturing Program designed and tested bearings models to measure the lifetime of bearings placed under various conditions. Two bearings manufacturers, six firms representing the aerospace industry and one automotive company were studied. Through the analysis of residual stresses in materials, oil contamination by particles and surface indentations, the researchers successfully developed a computer program capable of predicting bearing lifetime more accurately.
