Trendspotting

Article Abstract:

The demand for products that are defect-free is driving the need for 100% parts inspection as a standard requirement in the automobile industry. As a result, automotive companies are using machine vision systems as a means of inspecting 100% of parts that are being manufactured. A prime example is the use of German-owned dashboard specialist, VDO, of a four-camera dashboard test rig at its plant called Alphr Technology. It calibrates the instruments and visually checks the dashboard lights and symbols every 30 seconds.
