Heat and the Heartbeat of the City: Sonifying data describing climate change

Article Abstract:

"Heat and the Heartbeat of the City" is a website that presents a series of sonifications illustrating projected climate changes focusing on Central Park, the heart of New York City and one of the city's first locations for climate monitoring. The project is also available as a multichannel stereo headphone and speaker installation in addition to the online interface that enables listeners to travel forward in time at an accelerated pace and experience an intensification of heat in sound.

Spatio-aural terrains

Article Abstract:

Computer algorithms or multichannel soundscapes played through different kinds of speakers in particular buildings or rooms are examples of sound installations dealing with auditory spaces and physical spaces at the same time. Resonator is one such sound installation that was recorded and presented in such a manner that the listeners had a different acoustic perception of the spatiality of the recorded sounds depending on their position with respect to strategically placed loudspeakers.
