On friendship: Anglo-America at fin de siecle

Article Abstract:

Observers characterized the British-American friendship as utilitarian. The Anglo-American concept of friendship was based on the benefits that the British and American alliance brought in several wars. However, the British glory days during the late 19th century and the ensuing wars faded as economic concerns emerged. Changes in international problems has also affected the alliance that was formed between the Americans and the British.
