The use of zinc alloy coating systems in the UK motor industry is only 6% of the overall automotive zinc plating in the world. Metal Colours Ltd of Slough has setup the largest UK plant for zinc-nickel alloy applications. The use of precoated steel has risen from about 50 kg per unit in 1983 to an estimated 200 kg per unit in 1995 after the industrialization of alloy plated steel sheet. The market progress of these coatings is very slow.

On the edge of age discrimination

A 1994 court decision that awarded a 41-year-old man $3.7 mil in an age discrimination suit against a large accounting firm, is a watermark in the way employers may not treat workers. The 1967 Age Discriminating in Employment Act protects workers over 40. Currently this includes the Boomers.
