Reptile rendezvous

Article Abstract:

The Wildlife Conservation Society's campaign for preservation of reptiles began with Raymond L. Ditmars, the first curator of reptiles at the Bronx Zoo. Under his guidance, the collection of reptiles increased to 750 specimens belonging to 125 species within a few years. James A. Oliver took over the work after the death of Ditmars and helped the public overcome their fear of snakes. The reptile department of the zoo aims to preserve 150 Chinese alligators, which are becoming extinct, under the Species Survival Plan Program.

Reviving the red planet

Article Abstract:

Mars shows no signs of biological activity, yet a 'terraforming' process has been suggested to make the planet more like Earth. Theoretically, if the poles could be warmed, carbon dioxide and water vapor would increase and Mars might become suitable for plants.
