Integrating environmental data to meet multimedia challenges

Article Abstract:

Environmental protection agencies are taking a holistic approach to solving environmental problems by developing integrated environmental databases to allow comprehensive environmental monitoring and compliance. The new databases will have a standard format to allow links with other existing databases. The EPA and the Washington State Dept. of Ecology in Olympia, WA, are two agencies which have begun to reengineer their databases. Once completed, the cleaned and integrated databases will give users access to information to make decisions on simple environmental problems.
