Recent developments in the international market are changing the old systems of technology transfer. The old system of technology transfer is often indirect and limited to large corporations with multinational aspirations whereas the new system of technology transfer involves selling the technology itself with small, independent firms as the major players. Factors that have influenced this shift include the rapid spread of global communication technology and the removal of trade barriers.
