Keeping it rolling

Article Abstract:

This article discusses the extensive repair, realignement and rehabilitaton efforts carried out in the year 2000 for the Boston's aging McArdle Bridge. The bridge repairs extended over three-year period at a cost of $16 million. Construction staging and careful detailing avoided disruption of normal usage of the nautical passageway in any significant way.

Geometry lesson

Article Abstract:

The University of Cincinnati is planning to renovate its campus by renovating its recreation center and by linking all buildings using brick pedestrian path. San Francisco-based Hargreaves Associates produced master plan for the project. The details of the plan are presented.

The issues involved in designing and constructing habitats on Mars in the recent research conducted at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is discussed. Civil and aerospace engineers are certain to play a key role in developing such habitats.
