A model to explain ecological parapatry
Article Abstract:
Ecological parapatry is a distributional pattern where allopatric taxa overlap along common boundaries in the absence of hybridization. A model is developed that seeks to explain parapatry. Computer simulations were conducted to see if troughs can sustain paraptric boundaries with reduced interactions. The study revealed that trough sites may result from increased predation. In a heterogeneous environment, it was shown that weaker interactions in trough sites is adequate in maintaining stable boundaries.

Bones recovered from Cambodia have been been subjected to DNA testing in an attempt to account for 18 soldiers missing after the final battle of the Vietnam War. The bones of nine soldiers have been identified, and some others may have survived.
