Manic-depressive illness and creativity

Article Abstract:

The number of artists known to have suffered from mood disorders gives rise to the theory that such disorders somehow increase the creative capacity of afflicted individuals. Research on the incidence of cyclothymia, depression, and bipolar disorders in creative people lends support to this theory.
