Missing movement

Article Abstract:

Research into bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE), popularly known as mad cow disease, is discussed in detail, particularly the difficulties encountered in keeping tabs on the animals. Safety methods are being incorporated, such as electronic ID tags which have practical advantages, the feasibility of incorporating DNA information and genetic data which would permit a particular cow to be traced even after it is butchered and dispersed onto store shelves.

Wait a second

Article Abstract:

The arrival of 2006 will take a bit longer since bringing the calendar back into synchronization with the earth's rotation requires the addition of an extra second. Astronomers, historians and others are upset about the prospect of losing the leap second and have initiated a spirited debate to keep time tied to the earth's rotation.
