Mixed reviews for habitat plan

Article Abstract:

Both environmentalists and timber interests have attacked a habitat conservation plan signed by state and federal officials to protect land managed by the Washington state Department of Natural Resources. The plan sets aside land for endangered species and opens other areas for timber harvesting.

ASM report sees a mixed future

Article Abstract:

The ASM's career outlook forecast that microbiologist jobs will grow 6% a year, but that traditional training programs may not adequately prepare applicants for the positions available. Basic research needs in clinical centers are declining while nontraditional industrial jobs are growing.
