More Haemophilus and Mycoplasma genes

Article Abstract:

The methods used to sequence genomes tend to be biased. They do not adequately take into account the importance of additional RNA species that contribute to a cell's functioning. A few small stable RNA species were not initially detected in the Mycoplasma genitalium and Haemophilus influenzae genomes.

Estimating the age of the common ancestor of men from the ZFY intron

Article Abstract:

A formula for estimating the age of the most recent common ancestor of human males is explained. It yields an estimate of 173,000 years, which is about half that yielded from a less rigorous estimation method.
