Moving with the times

Article Abstract:

New industrial towns, such as Telford, are emerging in Britain with greater skills to attract inward investments from Japan, Korea and Taiwan. The increased investments are changing the traditional image of industrial locations. Companies prefer these new towns, as they provide better opportunities to reduce prices by providing energy-efficient buildings, better access routes, and scope for future expansions. Easy access to the regional data related with workforce, site availability, access routes, and educational facilities will promote equitable regional growth.

Tight fit: selecting the best seal

Article Abstract:

Sealing technology is undergoing rapid advances in design. New materials, such as asbestos, mechanical seal material and elastomers materials, are now used. Both dynamic and static seals require selection with respect to fluid resistance, temperature and pressure. Seal designs can be created for specific applications. The ultimate choice of seals depend upon the cost, reliability and life cycle. Perlast perfluoroelastomer parts, double mechanical seals for rotating shaft equipment and a variety of gaskets and gasket replacements developed are described.

Rent or buy

Article Abstract:

A growing number of UK companies have begun to realize the benefits of leasing a fleet of motor vehicles rather than buying them. While a recent survey shows that around half of UK's company cars are owned rather than leased, many companies have begun to shift to company leasing. Aside from the tax benefits derived from operational leasing, finance leases transfer the actual fleet operation and management to the fleet manager rather than to the financial director or company secretary. The risks of fleet ownership are also absorbed by the lessee.
