Neural networks for vertebrate locomotion

Article Abstract:

Observations of lamprey fish yielded considerable insights into the operation of neural networks. The fish has neural controls throughout its spinal cord that work in conjunction with signals from the brain stem. The fish is able to move with a wave-like motion due to muscle contractions.

All-optical networks

Article Abstract:

Experts agree that the full potential offered by fiber optic technology has yet to be exploited. It has been suggested that all-optical networks which transmit data on light waves are simpler, faster and more cost-effective.
