New twisted fiber proves better for concrete reinforcement

Article Abstract:

According to a research conducted, it is suggested that a triangular cross section and a helical shape may provide better bonding between steel fibers and concrete. It is observed that a concrete block reinforced with helical fibers was superior to traditional mesh- or rebar-reinforced concrete in the areas of structural capacity, impact resistance, and crack control.

Research indicates seaweed helps break down DDT

Article Abstract:

Seaweed is particularly attractive as a means of dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT) bioremediation because it contains an ideal combination of sodium, nutrients, and dissolved organics. Remediation by seaweed reduces the amount of DDT in soil by as much as 80 percent and during seaweed treatment, DDT is biodegraded as well as decomposed.
