New ways to avoid organ rejection buoy hopes: xenotransplantation

Article Abstract:

Two new strategies may facilitate animal-to-human organ transplants without hyperacute rejection. Transplant tissue treated with antioxidants prevent damage to ATPase without suppressing the immune system. In another approach, transplant organs are engineered to express human immune regulators.
