Hot under the collar

Article Abstract:

A survey of 1 million executives at 22 big UK firms indicates that 25% of them work over 50 hours each week, and 66% work over 40 hours, despite 75% of them being committed to a 35-37 hour week. Some 47% believe that their families are victims of their overwork, and 76% believe that their health is affected by overwork. The recession and subsequent layoffs at the beginning of the 1990s have left people feeling less secure in their jobs, and new technology and fewer staff doing more work have placed an additional strain on employees.

Power points

Article Abstract:

Public health initiatives depend on developing a clear strategy as to need and treatment for certain problems within communities. The best way to determine a strategy is to talk directly with the public, where areas of concern can be discussed and developed. Women's health initiatives focus on improving child clinics, nutritional development and women's health. Men's health involves encouraging them to make regular visits for health checks and helping them address risk factors.

Article Abstract:

The current state of the environmental engineering industry is intensely competitive and needs to repackage its services. The 1996 Environmental CEO Conference hosted by The Environmental Consulting Group, Inc., New York, suggests that the industry should not be optimistic regarding help from the Democratic administration and Congress. The effect of International Standards Organization on the business in the future was also discussed at the conference.
