Not cleaning up: faster, cheaper ways to restore polluted ground are largely shunned

Pollution control companies are dismayed that most companies would rather delay cleaning up their mess than invest in cleanup services. This is because companies would rather spend $1 million for lawyers to delay cleanup than invest $25 million in a fast but risky cleanup services.

Sewage treatment plants; algae offer a cheaper way to clean up wastewater

Article Abstract:

Advanced algal ponding processes provide environmental engineers with a new tool for cleaning up wastewater in sewage treatment plants. Such processes have been proven to be very effective for turning wastewater into a harmless and useful waste product.

Tough stuff: ceramic composites may get stronger - and cheaper

Article Abstract:

The Georgia Technology Research Institute used two principles for strengthening materials to create a new class of composites. Reinforcements were created with carbon fibers, and thin layers of ceramics were stacked to create laminates.
