Nuclear cleanup in Colorado crosses greatest hurdle

Article Abstract:

The Rocky Flats Environmental Technology Site that used to manufacture plutonium weapons components was closed by the Department of Energy in 1989 for safety reasons. The responsibility of cleaning up the site was handed over to Kaiser-Hill Company based in Colorado in 1995 that would be completed in 2005 and the site will be transformed into a wild life refuge.

Port authority unveils Path terminal designs

Article Abstract:

The Port Authorities of New York and New Jersey have revealed preliminary designs to construct a Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH) train terminal to replace the station, which was destroyed beneath the World Trade Center towers. Various authorities involved in the project are discussing the challenges involved in implementing the plan.

Prototype of 'carbon tower' developed

Article Abstract:

This article discusses the design and construction of a carbon tower using exclusively strong composite materials. These structures are the lightest and strongest and consist of a cylinder of 40 meter in diameter and 40 stories tall constructed from 40 carbon fiber strands embedding a concrete foundation.
