On track: The rail industry is taking lessons from the automotive sector

Article Abstract:

Railpart procures, stores and distributes rolling stock to the UK rail industry, and the company has looked to the automotive sector for help and advice in adapting the needs of the newly privatized rail industry. Many of the tools and techniques used by Unipart could be applied to the rail industry according to Railpart managing director, John Clayton. Communication was a key factor in the culture change, and that involved an internal magazine. Clayton also believes that training is important for progress, and it should be strongly led.
