Preventing ship pollution before regulation

Article Abstract:

MAN B&W Diesel A/S and Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. are developing marine engines that would reduce soot, hydrocarbon, and nitrogen oxide emissions in compliance with regulations passed by the International Maritime Organization. Despite the fact that only 2 of the 158 member countries have ratified the regulations known as Annex VI, MAN B&W Diesel A/S has developed a fuel injection system that reduces fuel seepage and researchers at Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. are seeking ways to simultaneously increase thermal efficiency and reduce nitrogen oxide emissions.
