Projected returns

Article Abstract:

Project management focuses on individuals and the way they are organized into teams and motivated. A recent publication from the Institute of Personnel and Development emphasized the requirements for the operation of effective project teams. These teams are observed to possess certain specific attributes such as a strong devotion to the achievement of a particular objective. It is thus important to select the right personnel for project teams as choosing the wrong persons will definitely affect the group's effectiveness. The ideal characteristics for team members include independence and proactivity.

Perceived differences

Article Abstract:

Research by the Corporate Performance Group at the Institute of Work Psychology at the University of Sheffield and the ESRC Centre for Economic Performance at the London School of Economics and Political Science revealed substantial differences in the way managers and shopfloor workers view their work environment. Shopfloor personnel have a less optimistic perception of conditions. They also believe that managers fail to address concerns such as employee participation in decision making, giving them autonomy over their work methods, and developing open and effective communication systems.
