Rapid prototype

Article Abstract:

Le Mans attracts crowds from all over the world each year and producing a competitive car for the race is an engineering challenge. Audi entered four cars in the prototypes category in 1999, and the R8C was designed solely to run in the race. The R8C has a carbon fibre moulded chassis and bodywork, with steel wishbones suspension. Gearbox casing, oil tank and steering rack housing are all made from magnesium.

Article Abstract:

The Royal College of Art's vehicle design course has shaped many of the top engineers in global car design. Some 98.9% of the graduates of the London-based college's two-year MA course find work directly in the vehicle design sector. The college accepts just 15 students a year on the course and many of its graduates are in influential positions within the automotive industry.
