Seeing underwater with background noise

Article Abstract:

Acoustic-daylight imaging can create moving color pictures underwater without the use of sonar by using ambient noise to 'illuminate' underwater objects. This technology may someday be used to detect underwater mines, count populations of marine mammals and provide security for harbors.

Seeing the light

Article Abstract:

Cost, power consumption and size savings associated with CMOS image sensors are expected to play key role in making the new technology a leader in the optoelectronics market. Unlike charge-coupled devices, CMOS image sensors can be directly incorporated with other circuitry.
