Seppuku and autoimmunity
Article Abstract:
Autoreactive immune cells are removed from the body by clonal deletion orinactivated through a process that triggers cell death, a type of seppuku that saves the life of the organism. Research on autoreactive B cells in transgenic mice is discussed.

Neutrophils and drug metabolism
Article Abstract:
Research indicates that drug-induced lupus is caused by T helper responses to self proteins modified by drug metabolites. This finding contradicts an earlier hypothesis that indicated that drug metabolites have a mitogenic effect on lymphoid cells.
