Smart nanomaterials inspired by biology: Dynamic assembly of error-free nanomaterials in response to multiple chemical and biological stimuli

Article Abstract:

The use of functional DNA (DNAzymes, aptamers, and aptazymes) for assembly of error free nanomaterials is evaluated. The catalytic and binding functions of DNA are used to demonstrate stimuli-responsive assembly and disassembly of nanomaterials which are useful for colorimetric sensing of a wide range of analytes.

Petroleomics: the next grand challenge for chemical analysis

Article Abstract:

Petroleomics include characterization of all of the chemical constituents of petroleum, along with their interactions and reactivity. Key features such as ultrahigh- resolution FT-ICR mass analysis, high magnetic field, plots of Kendrick mass defect have opened new investigation in the field of petroleomics.

Knowledge of the proposed chemical mechanism of action and cytochrome P450 metabolism of antimalarial trioxanes like artemisinin allows rational design of new antimalarial peroxides

Article Abstract:

Evidence is reviewed elucidating the mechanism of iron-induced triggering of antimalarial trioxanes. Several new, orally active antimalarial peroxides were designed rationally based on this fundamental mechanistic paradigm.
