Smart tags get smarter

Article Abstract:

The next generation of electronic tags made of plastic might outperform the radio-frequency identification (RFID) devices. Hewlett-Packard Laboratories has devised a miniature wireless chip, Memory Spot that could eventually replace RFID tags in many applications, as it can hold up to four megabits of flash memory and transfer those data to a reader at 10 megabits a second.
