Transformation of chlorinated aliphatic compounds by ferruginous smectite

Article Abstract:

Reacting chlorinated aliphatic compounds with ferruginuous smectite in aqueous suspension under anoxic conditions results in, in some instances, the reductive dechlorination and dehydrochlorination of chlorinated aliphatics of low molecular weight.
