Structural engineering: Louisiana, Mississippi rush to repair highways damaged by hurricane Katrina

Article Abstract:

The details of the repairing of the Interstate 10 bridge spanning Louisiana's Lake Pontchartrain; I-10 bridge near Pascagoula, Mississippi, and parts of U.S. 90 along Mississippi's Gulf Coast, by the respective governments, and the Federal Highway Administration, are presented. These highways were damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

Flood control: major work to begin on Comite River diversion project

Article Abstract:

Construction on the Comite River basin under the Comite River diversion project, an initiative taken up by the Army Corps of Engineers in Louisiana is discussed. The project is being taken up to protect residents of the Comite River from floods and divert it to the Mississippi.
