Technology monitoring and industrial diversification: a diversification project of an endogamic monoclonal industrial fabric by disseminating innovation opportunities

Article Abstract:

A pilot public program to help small- and medium-sized toy manufacturers in Spain's Alicante region diversify their operations was developed. The project was divided into five stages, the first of which is constructing a matrix of interest and mapping out technological competencies. Its aim is to disseminate knowledge and business opportunities to firms. In its 15 months of existence, it has underscored the importance of 'technology transfer meetings' to help firms adjust to new technologies.

Canada's National Research Council (NRC) has found that an information service geared towards the dissemination of competitive science and technology (CTI) information would be welcomed by high-technology companies. The NRC reached this conclusion after it sent an initial CTI bulletin to 18 electronics and communications firms. The bulletin was compiled by NRC researchers who analyzed information from foreign sources to generate CTI.
