Article Abstract:

The complex nature of drug or alcohol addiction make it hard for people to admit they have a problem and difficulties in the work place are often one of the first recognisible signs. High levels of alcohol can cause serious injuries to people working with dangerous machinery, especially those in the construction industry. Employers are provided with government approved guidelines on how to tackle employees with alcohol related dependence and it is their duty to offer help.

The 17 August 1999 Izmit Earthquake

Article Abstract:

The August 1999 earthquake that took place in Turkey registered a magnitude of 7.4, and caused widespread damage and death, the severity of which was initialy underestimated. Dead crabs and jellyfish were observed two days before the earthquake, possible victims of the release of radon gas, while a ball of flame and explosion in the gulf during the quake may have been caused by methane gas.
