The great blue yonder

Article Abstract:

Great Blue Herons are Canada's largest heron, standing 1.3 meters tall with a 1.8 meter wingspan. They nest on stick platforms over or near water and feed on fish, frogs and small mammals. Their courting and nesting behavior are described.

Article Abstract:

Birds have different ways of building nests and taking care of their young. Killdeers, for instance, only dig a shallow hallow in the ground, while songbirds undergo a tedious process in building their nests.

In praise of cavities

Article Abstract:

Cavities in trees are vital nesting sites for many birds. It is possible that cavity nesters have a higher success rate than birds nesting in more traditional places.
