Elastic biomolecular machines: synthetic chains of amino acids, patterned after those in connective tissue, can transform heat and chemical energy into motion

Article Abstract:

Protein researchers are now able to create synthetic molecules that can convert energy into motion in ways that mirror the biochemistry of living systems. These synthetic biomolecules have important potential applications in medicine and industry.
