The impact of mission on firm innovativeness

Article Abstract:

A powerful and positive correlation has been observed between the content of corporate mission statements and the use of innovation-oriented practices. This relationship was proven after a survey of 75 companies showed that the content of mission statements helped foster the employment of innovation-oriented practices. The same corporate survey, however, also found the link between mission statements' contents and new product sales to be much more tenuous, as the relationship between the two variables tended to be very indirect.
