Total cost management of interdependent projects

Article Abstract:

The technical and economic feasibility of interdependent projects can be determined by employing a new process based on Portfolio Analysis. The attainment of good performance with low risk and low cost is of prime importance in this case, which facilitates the theoretical assessment of the cost effects of projects. A formulated problem shows the process by which interdependent projects may be approached and done practically. Some aspects of optimizing the process of cost management give options to decision makers which can be used in evaluating and finalizing projects.

Cost containment, cost recovery

Article Abstract:

Cost containment and cost recovery pose a major challenge in megaprojects such as the Central Artery Project, Massachusetts. The B/PB has set up a Cost Recovery Panel comprising of state and federal officials to deal with errors and lapses by the designers and contractors. The B/PB does 30% of the designing and the rest is done by a selected consultant. In case the cost estimate increases without a corresponding change in the scope of work, the consultant is asked to redesign his work. These measures help to control the cost growth of the project.

Joint Projects Allow a Peek Into an Impoverished System

Article Abstract:

The life of a scientist in North Korea is discussed. Since the end of the cold war, these scientists have suffered from lack of funding for projects without the support of larger communists countries. Yet there is hope that things will change and collaborations with non-communists countries have already started.
