Viral-load test provide valuable answers

Article Abstract:

Viral load assays are useful therapeutic and monitoring tools for HIV and AIDS infection. Research has shown that patients with viral loads exceeding 30,000 copies per millimeter had a mean survival time of four years while those with less than 500 copies per mm had a survival time of over ten years.

When children harbor HIV: HIV infection is particularly difficult to combat in the young

Article Abstract:

Zidovudine therapy is offering encourging results in preventing mother-to-infant transmission of HIV infection. Research has shown that only 8 percent of infants contracted the disease from their HIV infected mothers, compared to the 28% in the zidovudine-untreated group.

Improving HIV therapy

Article Abstract:

HIV and AIDS treatment has gone from treating only opportinistic infections and alleviating symptoms to a true control of the virus. Viral control is done by halting the replication of the viral particles, either by suppresing reverse transcriptase or HIV protease.
