Water campus ready to begin Arizona aquifer recharge
Article Abstract:
Scottsdale, AZ, will be one of the first cities in the US to treat its wastewater to a quality that exceeds drinking water standards for groundwater recharge, with the construction of a $110-million water reclamation plant in the city. The new facility can treat 12 million gallons of wastewater in a single day, which can be used to irrigate the city's golf courses during summer. Excess wastewater not needed by the golf courses during winter will be subjected further to microfiltration and reverse osmosis.

Bureau plans warm water releases at Glen Canyon
Article Abstract:
The Bureau of Reclamation has released an environmental evaluation of a plan to modify the intake structures of the Glen Canyon Dam for water temperature control. The plan focuses on releasing warm water to benefit fish populations in the upper and lower portions of the river. The top area of seven trash racks will be removed and utilized as new intake structures. Each track rack supports a hollow tube that will be used to draw water from higher elevations in the structure.

Wetland wonder: Caught between the conflicting goals of storm-water treatment, flood control and the creation of habitat and recreational space, a Florida county found a compromise that satisfied all stakeholders
Article Abstract:
In Pinellas County, Florida, a design team was able to meet the goals for storm-water attenuation and maintenance, and also create a new habitat for wildlife and a recreational corridor for residents. The wetland was created on the site of a former manufacturing facility, and it serves as a storm-water attenuation basis, treating and filtering runoff, prior to drainage into Alligator Creek.
