What cloning means for gene therapy

Article Abstract:

Gene therapy could be combined with cloning to effect germ-line therapy, the prevention of fatal or debilitating diseases passed on from generation to generation. Couples carrying a genetic illness can have their offspring cured by employing gene therapy to correct the defective gene in the formation of the embryo.

Stem cells facilitate the production of advanced interspecies chimeras, organisms, which are a living quilt of human and animal cells. In Greek mythology, the chimera was a monster that combined the parts of a goat, a lion, and a serpent.
