Reasons given by older people for limitation or avoidance of leisure time physical activity

Article Abstract:

Reasons given by older people for limitating or avoiding leisure time physical activity have been studied in a community-based longitudinal study in California of free-living persons aged 55 or older. Subjects number 2046. Men reported fewer limitations/avoidances than women. Medical reasons went up as age went up. It was concluded that nonmedical factors are important determinants of activity limitation. These should be targeted by care providers.
