Comparison of two home care protocols for total joint replacement

Article Abstract:

A comparison of patient outcomes is presented for total joint replacement using two different home care strategies, one which uses preoperative home visits and fewer postoperative visits, and the other which follows the existing protocol of a lengthy series of postoperative home visits. Patients who received preoperative visits experienced outcomes comparable to those who underwent the existing protocol. Implications for medical care efficiency are discussed.
