Distinguishing cultural expectations in assessment of financial exploitation

Article Abstract:

The indicators of financial exploitation of the aged, such as financial status are based on white, middle class perspective and generally exclude cultural variations in minority communities. The lack of understanding of the cultural realities in assessing financial exploitation limits the possibility of developing adequate intervention programs. Financial exploitation is seen as a continuum of interactions which recognizes the necessity of intervention at all levels. The degree of intervention can also be developed on the basis of the strengths of interactions in the family.
