Drop attacks in older adults: systematic assessment has a high diagnostic yield

Article Abstract:

A study on the causes of drop attacks in elderly persons is presented. Drop attacks can be used to diagnose cardiovascular disorders. Drop attacks or falls is a terminology used to describe sudden collapse in full consciousness accompanied with difficulty in getting up but without any circulation problems.

The prevalence, severity and balance disorders in Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia, Parkinson's disease with dementia, dementia with Lewy bodies and Parkinson's without dementia are examined.

Unprovoked and glyceryl trinitrate-provoked head-up tilt table test is safe in older people: A review of 10 years' experience

Article Abstract:

A study conducted to test the safety of the head-up tilt (HUT) test in older adults is presented. The study revealed that HUT is safe in older people including patients into their ninth decade.
