Ertapenem therapy for community-acquired pneumonia in the elderly

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to compare the efficacy and safety of ertapenem, with ceftriaxone, for treatment of the patients aged 65 and above with community acquired pneumonia (CAP) that requires parenteral therapy. The results indicate that ertapenem is highly effective as ceftriaxone is, for the treatment of elderly patients with CAP.
