How much does it really cost to care for persons with Alzheimer's disease?

Article Abstract:

The author critiques an article indicating that Alzheimer's disease does not generate higher medical costs compared to patients with other types of dementia. He suggests that the costs which should be examined more closely are Medicaid cost of care and out-of-pocket expenses for patients' families, rather than estimates for managed care, which may or may not accept such patients.
