Interventions to prevent aspiration pneumonia in older adults: a systematic review

Article Abstract:

In order to assess the effectiveness of the interventions for prevention of Aspiration Pneumonia (AP) in older adults, a systematic review was conducted. Considering the familiarity of the problem of AP in older adults, larger, high-quality randomized controlled trials on the effectiveness of preventive interventions are warranted.

A study on the impact of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) treatment on patients suffering from Alzheimer's disease, is examined. The focus is on daytime sleeping and sleep disordered breathing.

A randomized, controlled trial of doxycycline and rifampin for patients with AlzheimerEs disease

Article Abstract:

The therapeutic role of doxycycline and rifampin in patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD) is studied. The findings suggest that the therapy may have a role in patients with mild to moderate AD.
